Terrier Trials are a wonderful way for dogs and humans alike to
get together for a weekend packed with fun and friendly
competition! Heartland holds two trials each year that have
drawn entries from as far away as California, Canada and Connecticut.
The
HWJRTC Spring Trial is scheduled so as not to conflict with
Easter or other area trials. For that reason, its date has
historically varied a bit (late March to late April), so please
check our
CALENDAR. It is one of the longest-standing
JRTCA
sanctioned trials in the United States.
Standard events include
Conformation, Go-To-Ground, Racing, Agility and Super
Go-To-Ground. Because the trial is sanctioned, exhibitors must
be current JRTCA members, although terriers need not be
registered for most classes.

Our
fall trial, The Heartland Harvest Hunt, is held in late October.
In addition to the usual slate of events, we offer several
unique activities for the enjoyment of all, including a Hunting
Partnership Test (Barn Hunt), Dark Bodied Terrier Conformation
classes among others. The Halloween Costume Class is always
hotly contested and not to be missed! This is an unsanctioned
trial, so club membership is not required to participate. Just
